MOPACINO TELLS HIS STORY OF GROWTH AND CHANGE THOUGH HIS MUSIC

Artist Mopacino was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 6. Growing up on the West Side of Cleveland, Mopacino as a young child musician started creating music that most would describe as reggae. As a child he would make beats by banging pots and pans from his mom’s kitchen. The older Mopacino got things changed, during his adolescent years he started to delve into more wild activities and was considered a bit more reckless. Growing up in an Arabic family, most of the things Mopacino did as a child got him into a lot of trouble at home and not to mention side tracked him from success.

At the age of 15 Mopacino decided to get serious about creating music, which is something he always considered his first love. Mopacino at that point went into the studio and made songs that were politically driven. Upon creating these songs Mopacino caught the ears and attention of many with his thoughts, feelings and words. When issues arouse around the world in the area of terrorism, politics and war things changed for Mopacino, most believe because of his Arabic nationality. Leaders in the music business became a bit nervous to support Mo’s movement because of the world’s misrepresentation of people of Arabic decent. This was a very sensitive time in the world and Mo had gotten turned down from several music industry execs. One time, T.I.’s manager and business partner Jason Geter supposedly decided not to work with Mopacino when it was said that T.I. would make a song with him. The song with T.I. did not happen and it was believed that Jason turned down the idea because of Arabic stereotypes.

As years passed by and world issues calmed Mo’s manager started introducing him to more entertainment companies. Mo, at that point, felt like he was back in business and could continue with his passion to make music. Mopacino’s team says that they were the ones to introduce the beginning concept of Busta Rhymes’ “Arab Money.” The original concept was said to have meant to be a collaboration between Mopacino and Busta Rhymes and that it was called “F*cking With The Arab (Getting Money).” That original title track was suppose to be an effort of introducing Mopacino to the world again. That original concept didn’t get released and Busta’s “Arab Money” did.
After feeling rejected because of his background Mopacino and his team Associate Records searched for different ways to highlight his talent.
