Some historical events that were going on in John Wilkes booth time was the civil war. He was also around during the Mexican American war in 1840.

Childhood/family Background:

John Wilkes Booth was born on May 10, 1838 in bel air a small town in West Virginia.

Booth was the second youngest of 10 children. His father, Junius Brutus Booth was also an actor, with a reputation for heavy drinking. John and his siblings were raised on a farm, which was worked by the family's slaves.

Actions:

John Wilkes booth was an American actor who made his debut to films when he was just 17. Wilkes was also a know confederate. In the 1850’s he joined as a member of the know-nothing party.

Some accomplishments John Wilkes booth had was that he was a spy for the confederacy. Also he had started in several plays. Although it was not exactly a good thing perhaps his greatest accomplishment was assassinating the president who the confederacy knows would have brought the United States closer to unity.

Character/Personality:

Some strengths that Wilkes had was that he was determined, even if it was for a bad thing or as he states “I am determined to be a villain”. Another strength he had was intelligent. We know this because he went to a military/boarding school and was also able to evade the authorities after murdering the most important person in the country.

One weakness John Wilkes booth had was that he was too stubborn to realize that killing the president only prolonged the inevitable, slavery being abolished. Another weakness he had was that he procrastinated on kidnapping the president, which threw off his plan to kidnap the president, and resulted in him impulsively killing Lincoln at his show.

John Wilkes booth personality was a very dark one. We know this because in one of his interviews of after a show he said that he was determined to be a villain. One thing that could have contributed to his dark personality is that his dad was an alcoholic who like most southerners mistreated their slaves.

Contribution to history:

John Wilkes booth has two contributions to history, the first is that he was a confederate spy. His second contribution is that he killed Abraham Lincoln putting an end to his future plans for the United States.

Wilkes is worthy of a spot in U.S history because he was the first person to assassinate a president and he did it at such a crucial time in our country’s history
