Transfer & Restoration by Prof. Stoned

Prof. sez:

Here's a rare nugget from the 60's. This LP contains the earliest works of a few influential
Dutch garage bands, all recorded in 1965 + 1966. As stated above, the first 13 tracks have appeared
on compilation CD's of the groups and a straight CD release of this album (coupled with
another similar album on one CD) exists as well.

But from judging these CD's it sounds like inferior audio sources where used in almost every instance,
indicating that the original tapes are long gone. Only the last two Bintangs tracks on the LP
appear in clear tape quality on CD. This is why my pal Victor invested his money into this album and
sent it to me, hoping that I could come up with a better digital version than what has previously
been available.

The LP consists of tracks that first came out on 45rpm on three different labels: Muziek Expres
(related to a music mag of the same name), YEP & CNR. The former two were founded by promotor
Paul Acket, who had close ties to the larger CNR company. None of the releases on the first two
labels sold particularly well, making them extremely hard to find in any condition today. After The
Outsiders & Cuby + Blizzards achieved success in 1966/1967 with other record companies, CNR decided
it was time to cash-in, and built a whole LP around their rarely-heard debut singles.

After completing the transfer of the LP, I went digging in my singles archive and found a few original
releases on YEP and Muziek Expres, which I think fit the musical theme of the original LP close enough.
The Peter & Blizzards tracks have been re-released on a 10" in 2001 but these are poor sounding needle
drops. The Fun Of it debut single has never been reissued to my knowledge. The sound quality is pretty
clean on nearly all of these, and superior to what is already out there.

Enjoy!
