How to put air in tires To inflate tires, locate a nearby air compressor. Unscrew the valve cap on the tire. Attach the air hose nozzle to the valve securely. Set the desired PSI on the compressor, usually found in your vehicle's manual or on a sticker inside the driver's door. Inflate the tire in short bursts, periodically checking the pressure with a gauge. Once the desired pressure is reached, replace the valve cap.
